note2it vs Notion

Choose Notion if your team needs one shared workspace for docs, wikis and databases, and is ready to pay $20 per member for its full AI. Choose note2it if you want personal notes and meeting notes in one place, AI meeting notes on every plan, and Claude or ChatGPT editing with permissions you set — start free.

Notion and note2it both let an AI assistant work inside your notes, and both have an official MCP server that Claude and ChatGPT can connect to. So the useful question is not which one "has AI". It is what kind of tool you want underneath it: a team workspace you build, or a notes app that is ready the day you sign up.

Here is an honest comparison, with Notion's facts taken from its own pricing and help pages on the date shown at the bottom of this page.

Two different kinds of tool

Notion is a workspace. Pages, databases with table, board and calendar views, wikis with verified pages, and a team that works in it together. That flexibility is the reason teams pick it, and it is also the cost: someone designs the structure, and someone keeps it tidy.

note2it is a notes app. Notebooks, sections and nested pages, a slash-command editor, [[wiki-links]] with backlinks, #tags, page templates, and every checkbox you write gathered in My tasks. There is nothing to design before you start, and nothing to maintain except your notes. If you need relational databases, note2it is not trying to be that.

Meetings: on every plan, or on Business

In note2it, AI meeting notes are part of every plan. Record your microphone and the call audio from Zoom, Google Meet or Teams in the browser, with no bot in the call, and get a transcript with the time on every line and a structured summary. Every decision and action item cites the moment it was said; click the time and the recording plays from there. The action items it finds are offered to you first, and only the ones you tick become tasks. Standard includes your first 15 meetings; Premium and Pro are unlimited.

Notion's AI Meeting Notes also work without a bot. Notion's help center says the desktop app captures both sides of a call, while the browser and mobile apps record the microphone only, and that the feature needs the Business or Enterprise plan, with a limited trial on Free and Plus. It transcribes in 16 languages, French included, and labels speakers in English.

Connecting Claude or ChatGPT

Both apps run an official MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients can search, read and write your notes. Notion's server is hosted by Notion, uses OAuth, and acts with your full Notion permissions; on Enterprise, admins can restrict which AI tools members connect.

note2it asks a narrower question at the approval screen: read only, or read and edit, for each assistant. Edits are block-level, so an assistant can add one line under one heading without rewriting the page, and if the page changed since it last read it, the edit is refused. note2it saves the page before every assistant edit, sends deleted pages to a restorable trash, and records connected-assistant activity in your security log. For Claude Code or other headless tools, you can create a personal API token instead of OAuth. Assistant connections are on Premium and Pro.

Price, privacy and leaving

Notion lists Plus at $10 and Business at $20 per member per month, and full Notion AI, meeting notes included, comes with Business. note2it is priced per person: Standard is free, Premium is $7.99 a month with the full AI suite, and Pro is $19.99 a month with more storage and read-only notebook sharing.

Neither trains AI models on your content by default; Notion's pricing FAQ says it won't unless you opt in, and note2it doesn't train on your notes, nor does its AI provider. note2it is a Québec company and hosts your notes and recordings in Montréal, Canada, with every provider listed on its Trust page. Both let you leave with your work: Notion exports to PDF, HTML, Markdown and CSV, and note2it exports any page, section or notebook as Markdown.

Choose note2it if…

  • You mostly need your own notes, organized and quick to find, not a database platform.
  • You record meetings and want transcripts and summaries on every plan, with each decision citing the moment it was said.
  • You want Claude or ChatGPT to edit your notes with read-only or read + edit chosen per assistant, and every edit reversible.
  • You pay for yourself and prefer one price per person over a per-member workspace.
  • You want an app in English and French, with your data hosted in Canada.

Choose Notion if…

  • Your team needs a shared wiki, project tracker and documentation in one workspace.
  • You rely on databases with table, board and calendar views, relations and filters.
  • Several people edit the same pages and you need members, guests and workspace administration.
  • Your company is already on Notion Business or Enterprise, where AI meeting notes are included.

Questions

Does Notion have AI meeting notes?

Yes. Notion's AI Meeting Notes are included on the Business and Enterprise plans, with a limited trial on Free and Plus. Its desktop app captures both sides of a call without a bot. note2it includes AI meeting notes on every plan, with your first 15 meetings free on Standard.

Can Claude and ChatGPT connect to both?

Yes. Both have an official MCP server. With Notion, a connected assistant acts with your full Notion permissions. With note2it, available on Premium and Pro, you choose read only or read and edit for each assistant, and you can revoke it in one click.

Is note2it cheaper than Notion?

For one person, usually. note2it Premium is $7.99 a month with the full AI suite, against $20 per member a month for Notion Business, where full Notion AI starts. For a team that needs a shared workspace, compare Notion's per-member price with what your team would actually use.

Does note2it have databases like Notion?

No. note2it organizes notes with notebooks, sections, nested pages, wiki-links, tags and templates, and gathers every checkbox into My tasks. If your work depends on relational databases and board views, Notion is the better fit.

Can I bring my Notion pages into note2it?

Yes, as files. Export from Notion as Markdown and CSV, then import the .md, .csv and .txt files into a note2it section. Your pages arrive as pages; Notion database views and relations do not carry over.

Can I use both?

Plenty of people do: Notion for the team wiki, note2it for their own notes and meetings. Since both speak MCP, your AI assistant can work with each.

Try note2it on your own notes

Standard is free: record your first meetings, connect an assistant later if you upgrade.
